Tim Cross, Associate Director at DBI Design, talks about respecting and working with the natural environment of SkyRidge, including the 3km Ecological Corridor that stretches throughout the entire project.
With 11 Great Park Neighbourhoods to choose from, with many connected to the Ecological Corridor, you can organise BBQ’s, picnics, play dates or simply relax and connect with nature.

Nestled adjacent to the Ascent Neighbourhood, bordering the Ecological Corridor running through the heart of the estate, this parkland is the first local park to be created at SkyRidge. This unique park and play hub will cater to the residents of The Ascent neighbourhood and features a wide range of facilities including fitness equipment, children’s playground, picnic shelters and green kickabout spaces. Featuring two replica gumnut play attractions, this park will be a distinctive feature as you enter into the Ascent Neighbourhood along Welcome Ave.

Offering spectacular views across the estate and beyond to the Gold Coast skyline and Pacific Ocean from Southport to Burleigh Heads, this major parkland is set to become one of the largest community parks in the region. SkyRidge’s major park will feature playground areas suitable for toddlers through to teenagers, family BBQ and picnic nodes, car parking and toilet facilities, insta-worthy lookouts, quirky sculptures, open green spaces for families, and two fenced dog parks suitable for all canines. A stunning 500-person capacity events amphitheatre for moonlight cinemas, music concerts, and Christmas celebrations, all backdropped by a pristine coastal skyline.

Prominently featured at the entry to the estate, running alongside the creek, SkyRidge’s Village Parklands offers residents a place for a wide array of physical activities and outdoor recreation, including multipurpose basketball courts, exercise stations, major playgrounds suitable for varying ages, BBQ stations and picnic areas. The Village Parklands will be a community meeting place, a family fun zone, or a great spot for an afternoon picnic beside the creek, all a stone’s throw from the retail village centre’s café's and dining destinations.
For fitness enthusiast, challenge yourself with our 30m stair climb. With 180 steps from top to bottom you will be sure to work those legs and thighs. If this stair climb is not challenging enough, you can continue your workout at one of our exercise stations at the base of the stair climb.

The 5,000m2 suburban park will provide important recreational and green amenity to the surrounding neighbourhood, containing a children’s playground, seating nodes and a multipurpose oval. This will be a perfect place to have a family picnic, sit under a shady tree, walk the dog or kick a football.

The park will contain shelters, picnic settings, viewing decks and lookouts, a community meeting place, multipurpose grassed spaces, seating and bird watching nodes with the park becoming an important gateway for access to the Ecological Corridor. Interpretive signage will be used to encourage engagement with the adjoining bioretention basin and the Ecological Corridor, offering an insight into, and an appreciation of the water quality management systems and diverse endemic fauna and flora communities that exists on site.

This park will be a major open space spur to the meandering Ecological corridor and is envisaged as an active recreation hub containing fitness circuits, a bicycle pump track and extensive walking trails linking to the broader SkyRidge network. As an extension to the Ecological Corridor and to provide important environmental function, the park will have a naturalistic setting of open woodlands and gullies.

Adjoining the Ecological Corridor, this park will be a large, recreationally diverse open space that will contain important environmental zones, a kick and throw oval, viewing decks, park shelters, BBQ’s, amenities and a significant destination adventure playground. Due to its location and size, this park will play a key role in the vast SkyRidge open space network and trail system.

This park will be an elevated extension that will overlook Future Park 4 and contains environmentally important water quality management zones, an active playground with climbing walls and parkour elements, picnic shelters, viewing decks and an amenities block. Combining with Future Park 4, the parkland will provide exceptional green amenity to the surrounding residential precincts that overlook this major open space.

This park will be a local community park in the heart of the north-western SkyRidge residential precinct, providing exceptional open space amenity for its surrounding residents. It will contain a large oval to fly a kite or kick a footy, picnic shelters, casual seating spaces, a children’s playground and major plantings of mature trees to provide shade and amenity.

This park will be an elevated park, 150 Metres above sea level and will be located along SkyRidge’s western ridge boundary. The park’s setting and location will offer outstanding coastal views with a destination lookout, strategically positioned to capture these breathtaking vistas. A flat multipurpose oval space has been integrated into the setting’s steep terrain as an area for kids to play or throw a ball, complimented with a series of shaded seating nodes.

This park will abut the elevated SkyRidge western boundary ridgeline and forms an important piece of the site’s vast trail and open space network. The park will incorporate a large kick and throw oval, seating nodes with views, exercise equipment and key path linkages within a beautiful tree covered parkland setting.
